Openness

Openness

Exploring freshness

“Listening out for a different kind of news, let’s see what insights arise through our practice to power us congruently forward.”

In one day we receive more information than a person did their whole lives 100 years ago. This last year we’ve seen in clear view the consequences of past neglect; to the environment and to the inequities that live between us.

It’s clear we need smart and innovative action, yet how can we access this openness in mind, and heart – where we are not divided in resentment, upset and self-harassment? How might this inner space free up how we meet what’s before us?

In this retreat we’ll be cultivating conditions for the freshness and liveliness that exist beneath the noise. We will discern how to stay alert but not swamped.

Poets, prophets and different spiritual traditions have pointed us towards this space, using different means. Here, the possibility of aligning with something potent and transforming in the human experience; something, we could say, more rooted in the beautiful. This space can’t be owned or fenced off, every-one welcome.

Format: This retreat will be grounded in foundational Buddhist practices. Teachings will draw on the facilitators’ direct experience, metta heart practices, and the poetic traditions. Guidance and support will be offered through meditation instructions, relaxation practices, connected movement classes, one to one and group interviews and discussions, and Dharma talks.
